Meet A Beautiful Miracle..................

I would like for you to meet a future Ultimate Fighting Champion if ever there was one (His Mama is a friend of mine).........This handsome little fella is Mr. Jackson Cash Harmon and he was born almost three months premature....He came into the world on July 7th weighing 1lb and 9oz, today he is 2lbs and 3oz and starting to take some of his Mama's milk....And she finally got to hold this tiny miracle yesterday....I believe in prayers and I thought I would pass this little fella and his tired Mama and Daddy along to you...He's doing great, but still has a long way to go...And I'll keep you posted

What Generation Gap.............

Our granddaughter is staying with us for her last week of Summer vacation.... you know, Wonka Land as her parents like to call it....Or the land that knows no No's....
Tonight the princess decided to take a leisurely bubble bath and I being her loyal servant obliged her.........
When she stepped into the tub she asked, "Gram, would you play one of those funny records you like to listen to while I'm in here".......I couldn't believe what I was hearing, someone who bops around the house singing Justin Bieber and The Jonas Brothers and shakes her tiny behind to Lady Gaga, was wanting to listen to Ella Fitzgerald.....Her Grammie's old Jazz tunes
I stood and watched as she lay in a bubble filled tub with her eyes closed and her head laid back, Lady Ella's magic spell was cast
It was beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!

I think I'll introduce her to a little Nina Simone the next bubble bath........

Renewal..........

I ran away from home for a few days and it was awesome!!! I believe a person needs to do that sometimes, it keeps the neighbor's safe....And I told my husband I was going to leave him if he didn't get me away from that blasted pressure cooker for a few days....Beside, my soul was in need of renewal and there's only two places that do that for me...

One, is Cades Cove in Tennessee, it's in the Great Smokey Mountains and it's a place that transforms my spirit and soul every time I walk the path and trails of the old home places...I see jonquils and roses that are growing out in the middle of nowhere and think of the callused hands that lovingly planted them there many years ago....And in the breeze, I can almost hear a Mother calling her family in for supper....To me it's really magical..
(Corny, I know, but when your menopausal and you can find serenity, you milk it for all it's worth).....

The other is the Gulf Coast, which is where we went...I can set for hours watching the waves and listen to the water and think of nothing, I feel that with each wave my soul is renewed and refreshed, and I am part of Gods great plan again...

When anxious, uneasy and bad thoughts come, I go to the sea, and the sea drowns them out with it's great wide sounds, cleanses me with it's noise and imposes a rhythm upon everything in me that is bewildered and confused....

~Rainer Maria Rilke

P.S.

The pressure cooker and the garden was still here when when we got home...I'm currently planning my next escape.........

Summer Time Around The Prison/Sweat Shop/Palace...........

Well folks, once again it's that time of year when I don my Caroline Ingles apron and curse the garden and the heat....You got it!! It's canning and preserving time.....I'm so excited, I just can't hide it......NO, I'M IN TORMENT!!!!! If I was born in the 1800's I'm pretty sure I would have been a prostitute, because if I'd had been a farmers wife I believe my husband would have gotten tired of my whining and took me out behind the barn and shot me........(Beside, my uterus would have had a cut-off valve anyway and I don't like body odor).......

Anyway, I need to keep my status as raining queen, so I pitch a fit and go on.........Trust me, it does no good, for this once red lipstick wearing, no such thing as to many sales in one day, and quality purse toting woman who use to get shinny gifts, only gets rewarded with 30lbs of South Georgia Peaches in need of preserving now......When my husband was a teenager he didn't have a poster of Rachel Welch on his wall, it was June Cleaver, I'm sure of it!!! Let's clarify something, I don't want to be June Cleaver, I'd rather be Holly Golightly (from Breakfast at Tiffany's).............
So I stay and work in the labor camp that I call home for mere pennies a day...........(Anyone feeling sorry for me yet)
And after removing 2,765 briers from different parts of my body I walked into the house with a bucket of these beauties...

Ripe and Juicy! They were growing wild on our property when we bought it and we have babied them ever since, this year they said, "Thank you for the love"... We've enjoyed cobbler from them and I can't wait to have some of these on a hot buttermilk biscuit.

During the winter my Father in law gave us some green beans for our garden that come from some ancestors during the 1800's. They came from some Cherokee Indians before the trail of tears . Each family has gotten seeds out of each crop for the next year and it's been going strong ever since.....Well, after spending three hours in 150 degree (I added in the humidity) heat picking these monster beans, and two days and nights picking and canning more.......I have decided that we need to give them back their beans......We have taken enough from them....And if they act now, they can take the garden too......

Closet Twlight Fan............

Yes, I will admit that I'm a closet Twilight fan. I didn't start watching until the first one came out on DVD, I bought it just to see what the fuss was about....At least that's my story! I thought the acting was horrible but I was hooked and got my daughter hooked also....When the second one came out, my daughter and me went during the week to see it because neither one of us could stand the thought of all those screaming teenagers..What we found was a half empty theater full of middle aged women in dark sunglasses and hats, all of them acting like they wondered into the wrong room...But this time was different........BOY WAS IT DIFFERENT!!!! We walked into a theater full of mostly menopausal women who had no shame....And a few normal folks who wished they'd stayed home....Let me tell you about these two ladies who sat beside us, they were worth the price of admission....The two ladies (and I'm being nice) one said she had just turned 70 were loving every minute of this movie...As soon as it started they both said, "Bring on those boys". Every action scene they were down in their chairs, covering their eyes and punching back. At one point I looked over at the lady next to me and said, " Mam, are you sure you need to be in here without adult supervision", she looked over at me grabbed my arm and said, "This is just so hot and intense".....I laughed so hard I almost wet my pants........When a love scene came, on all I heard was, bring it on, that's what I'm talking about and at one point she said, "He wants her to straddle that".....These two ladies DID NOT have an inside voice and what ever club they belong to, I wish I was a member........What naughty spunk!!! Of course it made us think which group we will be safer with when the next one comes out. Teenage hormones or hormonal replacement therapy.......

What Exactly Does Our Dreams Means...........

What does our dreams mean? If you can figure this one out your a genius or as crazy as I am.......

Last night I dreamed my husband was trading me to another man.......My new home would be in a shack by the swamp near the Atlanta Airport......There is no swamp near the Atlanta Airport! My new husband was short, extremely overweight, bald and smelled of perforated bowel. My husband, being the thoughtful man he is, assured me he would talk to my new companion about his body odor....This did not comfort me.....In my dream, my husband allowed this man to sleep with us for one week..A good trial run he called it.......I woke up early to both men sleeping in brightly colored clothes on opposite sides of the bed and ran away....I wasn't living with a man that smells like rotting flesh..........I ran into a darkened tunnel that turned into a shopping center, there was store after store of beautiful purses and it wasn't long until I stole one........I was then a criminal running from mall security.....I found myself in the food court stuffing my beautiful purse with stolen food from the food court (apparently I was going to be on my own and needed nourishment). Not going to ruin the beautiful stolen purse, I had also confiscated some 100% Egyptian cotton sheets to line my purse with..(I may be a criminal, but I know how to care for quality). As I try to run out of the mall I find my self walking into the sunshine and into several family members both past and present, inviting me to a family reunion , after explaining to them that I can't go since my husband is selling me to another, they take the food from my purse and spread it on the table..

I turn around to see a beautiful fountain filled with children playing...They were mine....

Just another night in my head...........

Sleep well my friends.....

What's Been Going On ..........

I've tried for weeks to blog but have been unsuccessful, maybe it's the Georgia heat.... Maybe It's because I haven't been taking my hormones..Who knows....I don't know what's going on with any of y'all anymore...So sorry! I do hope to catch up soon, and I hope everyone is well and having a great Summer... Trust me, it's not because I've been on some tropical beach somewhere or even lounging by the pool. Nope, I have once again bitten off more than I can chew..I tend to do that from time to time......

My husband is convinced I am going through some kind of a midlife crisis, which he refers to as"heart dropsy".. I don't know why he calls it that, he just does....Of course this man still calls a bra a brazier..He's officially 110 years old.....I've tried to convince him that a quality purse could snap me out of it, but so far I'm not winning. I think his main concern is the fact that I've not dusted or vacuumed all week...(Now I'm worried)
He's convinced I'm looking for a young lover named Miguel or Armando
Yes! I tell him, men with names like these love middle age women with stretch marks and sagging breast, I have to run at least four of them away from the door a day.....Please understand. Mr. Sexy Calves has never been accused of being romantic or jealous, his new jealousy is almost comical....One Valentines Day, I lite candles around a bubble filled tub and his first response was, "Are you trying to burn down the house" It was then I realized I was married to my Grandfather........That has never happened again!!!!
He swears it all started when I got what he calls those "brown strips" in my hair, after that I started going to Photography School and gotten more interested in my Body Products business...The past two weeks I've been busy sanding sheet rock in our basement and trying to make room for all my products, my little soap business has gotten quite larger than I thought and I have ran out of space in my laundry room, so who knows where it will go from here but right know I'm looking at websites (which I know nothing about) and if any of y'all want any samples of anything I make, let me know, I'll be glad to send you some. They are all Natural and Organic...I'm also loving Photography, the world is so beautiful when your looking through a lens.. I have my first wedding shoot in November (I was forced into that, Thank you Hope)...As for Mr. Sexy Calves, I have no plans of trading him in for a younger model (he doesn't complain about my sagging breast).
And I hope to catch up with everyone real soon...Don't give up on me!

Happy Anniversary..............

I would like to say Happy Anniversary to Mr. Sexy Calves....The man who knows how to fix his own breakfast but forgets what drawer his under ware goes in....The man who makes the best Chocolate cake and Barbecued chicken, EVER!!!! But believes my name is Ma Walton every Summer and Fall...Meaning I must can, freeze or preserve everything from our garden ....And pretty much anything edible in the state of Georgia....But never complains when he comes home and the table is full of new soap, lotion, body wash or bubble bath......But not his Supper!!! He never complains when I can't sleep and get up at 2am to clean something....Or make bath products...He never complains when he comes home to a dinning room table full of photographs because I have been on a photo shoot.....He knew I had a few loose screws and married me anyway...He loves my family even though most of them are slightly dysfunctional....He loves me hair up or hair down, make-up on or off (though I believe he prefers it on).Did I mention his calves are really hot!!! I like him a lot...I still call him my boyfriend.......Most days!!!

What's Not Working For Me Today............

This morning I woke up, looked in the mirror and said, "Today I will convince myself that gray hair is sexy". So far, it's not working......If every gray hair tells a story........Mine is writing a novel.

Farewell Old Friend...........

Jack Bauer has been on a 24 hour rampage...He's been shot, beaten (numerous times), stabbed, stopped a nuclear crisis, lost the love of his life and been betrayed by the President.....And once again he came out on top (hair in place and leather jacket looking great)

Yes, I cried when Jack told Chloe good-bye, because he was also telling me good-bye....

Good-bye to eight years of, on the edge of your seat entertainment.......Shoot first ask questions later....I've lived in a world of great Jack Bauer quotes for eight years, I mean don't every woman look at their husband and say, "You have no idea how far I'm willing to go to get your cooperation"....It's an everyday saying around here

What does this mean? 24 addicts everywhere are lost, confused and deeply saddened this morning. Who will save us now............Jack, don't go far!

Yes, I am fully aware that my life is a sad miserable mess, but this man has brought this middle aged woman a great deal of happiness and excitement over the years....Just look at that face!!!

A Mothers Day Treat.....

Hope everyone had a wonderful Mothers Day weekend...It was a beautiful weekend here and I got a wonderful treat Sunday morning, I awoke to the smell of breakfast cooking......twice...My husband usually gets up early and fixes him some breakfast (I'm not getting up at 7:am on Sunday morning), but the second time I could smell sausage frying it got my attention...I awoke to my Daughter and Son in Law making a wonderful breakfast of French Toast with strawberries and a wonderful sauce, sausage and eggs and some lovely little drink to go with it...What a wonderful surprise, they got up early, came to my house and fixed Mama breakfast....I asked for the same thing next year.....It was perfect...

Thank you both so much

I Love You Bunches!!!

Happy Mothers Day.......

Her hands held me gently from the day I took my first breath.

Her hands helped to guide me as I took my first step.

Her hands held me close when the tears would start to fall.

Her hands were quick to show me that she would take care of it all.

Her hands were there to brush my hair, or straighten a wayward bow.

Her hands were often there to comfort the hurts that didn't always show.

Her hands helped show the stars in place, and encourage me to reach.

Her hands would clap and cheer and praise when I captures them at length.

Her hands would also push me, though not down or in harms way.

Her hands would punctuate the words, just do what I say.

Her hands sometimes had to discipline, to help bend this young tree.

Her hands would shape and mold me into all she knew I could be.

Her hands are now twisting with age and years of hard work.

Her hands now need my gently hand to rub away the hurt.

Her hands are more beautiful than anything can be.

Her hands are the reason, I am me.

Coming Out Of The Proverbial Closet...So To Speak...

Or maybe I should say the paranormal closet...Things around the house have been pretty busy lately, our "little friend" has been getting into a lot of mischief......For the most part, we have gotten use to the noises, footsteps, shadows and knocking on the walls...we see it, hear it, acknowledge it and it moves on, but now he likes to stand at the foot of the bed and wake you up....Once your awake and can focus on him, he turns and disappears....I say he because it's a big shadow...The size of a man....Can I just say this messes me up a little....Some of my family came for a visit recently and we told them nothing......The first morning I asked my brother how he slept....He said, "Fine, except for all that knocking that Daddy was doing when he got up to go to the bathroom". My Dad looked at him and said once he laid down he never moved till morning....I never said a word.......Same thing next night.............On the last night my sister in law was woke up by what she thought was my Dad going to the bathroom, (he wonders when he isn't familiar with his surrounding) she thought he simply came into their room by mistake....She lay still not wanting to see my Daddy in his fruit of the looms (she's a good sister in law isn't she) but knew he would need some direction so she opened her eyes and was ready for what ever.....So she thought.............What she saw was our house guess standing at the foot of the bed................THIS DID NOT PLEASE HER....SHE HAS NO PLANS FOR VISITING ANYTIME SOON.............I really liked her!!!.................We had a homeowners meeting this past week and I decided to ask the first people who built in here if they knew anything about the property or who would.....I was told the property use to be a family farm, we were the fifth to build here and I remember seeing a lot of old fence post......My next door neighbor was curious as to why I would want to know this information and after a few minutes of intense questioning..............I squealed like a pig.........Fearing we would be the neighborhood outcast, or the people known as "those people who", I was in for a surprise.....the two people I told knew exactly who to go to....The neighborhood ghost busters.....Now, my only fear is what hors devours goes with an EVP session, because they promise their coming to check out my house....It could be worse, we had some "friends" tell us if our faith in god was stronger we wouldn't believe in this......I asked them to spend the night in our home......Haven't heard from them since..............

I've posted on this before and gotten some great feed back, I've tried a lot of your suggestions to no avail....Whatever lost thing is wondering in our home hasn't hurt either of us, but at times can make you feel a little uncomfortable...unless it produces a mortgage check, it's still our home and were not moving (beside the real estate market sucks).

I promise you one thing....If the day comes when it starts rearranging my furniture or we hear growling sounds......We have no problem calling everybody we know and having an old fashion tent revival..........

My Wonderful Award.............

BEAUTIFUL BLOGGER AWARD
Thanks to my wonderful Kentucky friend Andora for giving me this award..Please visit her blog at http://www.andoraslife.blogspot.com/ If you want to see her amazing photography and read about the beautiful life she lives in the mountains of Kentucky..She's the proud Mama of two Marines, and I'm lucky to have her as a Bloggie friend!!! Thanks again Andora...

Here are the rules...You need to say something nice about the person who gave you the award, copy and paste, share a few little personal details about yourself, and pass it on...

Your suppose to share ten things people don't already know about you and pass this award to ten other bloggers. My blog is like a diary, if I think it,I write it, therefore you know it...Maybe here are a few things you don't know...

1. I absolutely hate perfume (on me).I have never found anything that I can stand, on a very rare occasion I will use Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue Body Lotion.

2. I have walked with a limp for the past ten years...No matter how pretty the shoes or how expensive the purse is....You can't make a limp sexy....

I have degenerative arthritis, I've had several total knee replacements, my right hip and shoulder are shot....But I can still walk and I keep my sense of humor. When I was working full time I took anywhere from twelve to fourteen ibuprofen a day for the pain...."Hey, it's better than crack".......

3. I suffer from insomnia...Always have...

4. I am the middle child...( That should explain everything)

5. We didn't have indoor plumbing until I was a teenager..(Shaving your legs in a galvanized wash tub was not fun, especially when your tall).
I know, that's not ten..... But I tell y'all so much stuff already.....
Here's my ten...
You ladies make blogging fun...

A Day In The Life Of............

I did an assignment for Photography class called A day in life of_____(something). I choose a park bench.....My series started out simple enough, I choose an early morning shot before the days activities began.....
I believe park benches are romantic, and it just so happened that I captured a sweet couple sharing a romantic moment.....How lucky was I.....(Thank you sweet romantic couple, A.K.A. my daughter and son in law)
There was the Mother trying to read her magazine while her boys played...

The runner cooling down

And the ice cream that wasn't wanted......

But my favorite was this, my honorable mention....While walking through the park with my daughter we stumbled across this site
I wasn't sure if we had came across a crime scene or a homeless Waffle House worker, but then again it could be a transvestite who loved to trout fish....This picture needs color for you to really appreciate it...When do you walk upon a park bench with a can of trout bait, a empty pack of twix candy bars, a curtain and a Waffle House hat hanging on it...On the ground was three BIG bras, a girdle, flip flops, a house coat (not a robe, there's a difference) and a very sequined patriotic sweater....This was definitely a photo opportunity

If park benches could only talk......

My Thoughts On A Sad Tragedy.........

Most of you know that I grew up in the same coal fields as those killed in that horrible disaster in southern WV. My brother actually worked with one of those men. My heart breaks for the families of those that have lost loved ones and I know that the entire community for each grieves. Miners are a close knit brotherhood, much like firemen or policemen...They know the dangers that lie inside a mountain of coal each time they go underground, just like a firemen knows a building is burning, he doesn't let that stop him, he proudly does his job....

I know what it's like to wait by a phone when you've heard of an accident and I know what its like to meet a ambulance at the Emergency Room, hoping for the best...My Grandfathers were coal miners, my Daddy was a coal miner, so are my brothers, and numerous family members....I remember when I was a teenager and Daddy would talk about how high the mine was...24 inches...I couldn't image working for 8-12 hours Monday-Saturday in the dark in 24 inches (that's the height of a coffee table), you eat in that, go to the bathroom in that and work hard in that, you don't come out until your shift is over....A lot of people around here (Atlanta) always ask me why people live that kind of life...it's simple...It's a way of life in Appalachia, a way to support your family and the only thing that most know. And one they take a great deal of pride in.. There's an old saying "When a boy becomes a man, slap a shovel in his hands"....

I'm proud of my mining heritage, when I was a little girl I thought every bodies Daddy was a coal miner...I spoke to my family yesterday, they were telling me about the protesters standing only a few yards away from the families awaiting news of loved, environmentalist holding signs that said things like, "Let them burn"...Fools that don't realize without people like these who risk their life everyday they wouldn't be able to flip a switch and have electricity at night....This broke my Daddy's heart...When I drive home to visit my family, the last two hours of the trip are filled with me passing coal mine after coal mine...When I start seeing those mines I get my second wind...Because after a long drive, I know I'm almost home...It's sad that protesters used that as their opportunity, and wanted to stand next to family with those horrible signs...As for me, I will mourn the loss of these men and keep their families in my prayers. Such a sad tragedy indeed....

Just A Yukky Week......And A Life Without Jack.....

First off, I'm happy to see the warmer weather and all the beautiful things blooming....I'm over Winter and I'm sure I'm not alone...But my Spring time kryptonite is in high gear...The Bradford Pears are blooming and I've had a weeks worth of itchy, watery eyes, none stop sneezing and talking like I'm in a drum, Friday and Saturday I never got out of my pajamas.........This has been a long winter for all of us and I am happy to see some sun.....And even the dreaded pollen

But this news was the sour icing on the cake....24 has been cancelled......

For 8 seasons I have secretly been hiding my love (lust) and affection (sorry honey)for someone else, that's included none stop heart-pumping action, three nuclear threats, several attempts at the nations presidents and numerous wounds to my own beloved.......Yes, I'm talking about the man who saves of our country/nation/universe and all in a 24 hour period.....None other than Jack Bauer......

I find out that they've cancelled 24 after 8 seasons and then watch Pamela Anderson twirl her hair and do a lap dance on Dancing with the Stars (Did they scrap the bottom of the barrel with her)............And yes, I'm sorry, But I'm over the average mom Kate Goselin too.......

Maybe I'm just bitter about no more Jack, what will us 24 addicts do......What a thrill ride Monday nights have been...

Anybody that watches 24 can quote something from the show...This is one of my Jack favorites..

Jack Bauer: "You probably don't think I could force this towel down your throat, but trust me I can. All the way. Except that I'd hold on to this little bit at the end. When your stomach starts to digest the towel, I pull it out. Taking your stomach lining with it...Most people take about a week to die, it's very painful"...

Photography School........

Can I tell you again how much I love Photography School.....The only bad thing is, everything is a photo op... Like putting my daughter in a blooming tree full of bees...Thank you my love...
And taking my granddaughter outside to the train tracks on a freezing cold day in the rain...All it cost me (that day) was a happy meal....
I'll gladly take comments, critiquing, or any tips for improvement.....

Another Year Older....And Mostly Ramblings.......

Monday morning I got dressed, put on an adorable and colorful pair of socks that my daughter bought me that said, " It's my birthday today, I'm 29 again"......It was my birthday, I was not 29.....But that was sweet and I think I'll wear them again next year. ....I also think that next year I'll pretend that I was born on leap year....
That's all I'll say about the age thing....

It was a beautiful day, no coat needed and short sleeves worked out perfectly...
I spent the afternoon with my daughter and had a wonderful time (I always do...I really like this girl), we laughed (mostly at me) and had a great lunch at one of our favorites... Douceur de France.....I finished my lunch off with this.....And YES....It was worth it!!!!

We finished the night eating supper at Poppy's, a great Cuban restaurant...

This year has made me think about life differently, and question a few things...Am I to old to start new adventures, should I stick with what I know...Some things are certain

I've got to stop being shocked every time I pluck enough gray hairs from my eyebrows and head to make a toupee....(This happens way too often, and each time I am in awe).

At what point did baby oil and iodine sound like the perfect tanning oil to use while laying directly under the ozone layer on a shinny silver blanket called Even-Up...(If anyone remembers these tanning blankets, chances are you were using the same lotion as me..) This year there will be a giant increase in SPF

Why do I keep buying wrinkle creams that swear to make you look ten years younger, when what I really need is plaster of Paris...

When will I realize that I'll never be a size 6......Ever...

And jeans that make your bottom look smaller, don't do anything for your thighs....

There will always be relationships that I look back on....And throw up a little in my mouth when I think about them...(Still thinking and a little nausea's )

There are friends I never want to be without...The ones you know have your back no matter what...The ones that know every little stinking detail about you....And still they love

And the friends I miss...The ones that I've lost touch with and wonder how it happened...

And last but not least......Someone my age cannot eat Cuban at 8:30 at night......No way, No How..

Thankful and Blessed for another year of Life

News Flash In The Neighborhood...Or Things Georgians Don't See Everyday...

A dirty stranger was spotted walking through our neighborhood Wednesday morning, causing fear and panic among our peaceful surrounding's....

Upon further investigation, no authorities were needed...It seemed the stranger was the authorities

(Yes this is silly, I am aware of this....But I happen to find a 7 foot snowman in the middle of the street in my neighborhood hilarious)

This day is coming.....

It's the 2nd of March and Georgia woke up to snow....Beautiful snowflakes....To those of you who have had record breaking snow this winter I apologize for this.....But this is new for us...And we are hypnotized by it's beauty (truthfully, the state shuts down for a week at the mention of flurries, no bread or milk can be found for miles)....

Anyway, my point of this post was this.....It's March and those of us who dread "that time of year"T when we start looking for the perfect summer bathing suit ...the one that will make us look younger, thinner and more beautiful by the pool, lake or beach, is fast approaching....I have come to realize one thing.....I demand way too much out of a small piece of spandex......And I know this day is coming, when all I'll need is this..........
Thanks Liz....This picture not only made me smile but put me in a deep depression....

Bon Appetit.....

Those crazy squirrels Snoop and Scoop returned for a little Italian dining yesterday....I had made some pasta and put what was left over on my back porch (to lazy to take it to the trash), when I heard a noise....One little over sized rodent had found his way to the mother load...He then called out to his buddy and informed him of the feast....

Several others tried to join the party but were quickly ran away....The two sat and ate for hours, sucking up noodle after noodle....

After they finished...A little sunbathing was required...I figured they would go somewhere and blowup with all that pasta inside, but nope, they were back this morning knocking on the door wanting to know what today's special

This Is Beyond Medals................

Anyone with half a heart, whether you follow the Olympics or not, had to be emotionally drained after watching Canada's Joannie Rochette take the ice last night....Only days after the death of her Mother, she skated to a standing ovation and a room full of tears....She skated as if her Mother was right by her side (I believe she was). They kept panning over to her tearful Dad who was there to support her...A breathtaking performance of grace and beauty...When she ended her routine, she broke down...I broke down as soon as she entered the ice...What courage for such a young woman...She currently stands in third place......And I'm pulling for her, I wish her the best .

The Roses......

by any other name would smell as sweet."

I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand as in what direction we are moving.

A Beautiful Surprise and Valentines Favorite....

It's been a stressful week for me and I'm sure many of you have had the same kind of week yourself, not to mention this global warming is freezing us all to death...I had a wonderful surprise when I opened the mail this evening, Linda over at A day in the life of, had made a beautiful valentines day card for me (she's an incredible scrapbooker and card maker). Linda, it made my day...You are a beauty.

It also reminded me of my favorite Valentine's Day card from my hubby, not at all what you would think...

We had went to the mountains with some friends for Valentines one year, of course one of our friends had already purchased his wife, as my husband puts it the most elaborate card he has ever seen, he swore cupid himself was inside this card sprinkling love dust...He gave his wife the card before we went to supper..Of course, she loved it....Here was my husband and our other friends husband looking at each other with the "you mean were supposed to give a card on valentines day look on their face"

8pm on Valentines Day in the Smokey Mountains is not the time to find the "right card for your wife.".My husband literally walked in the store and grabbed the last card in the wife section and walked out....When I opened the card, romance was the farthest thing from my mind....it had a oven mitt on the front and simple said, " You'll need this for later". ...Inside the card was written,

"Because I'm to hot to handle"......Right know your probably thinking what's wrong with this, give him credit, he tried.....Your right, I should have, except for the part that said.....TO MY HUSBAND WITH WITH LOVE............

I think about what the poor girl at the counter must have thought when my husband(who's a big man)paid for the

"Special Husband Valentines Day Card".....

And it makes that card priceless............

We talk about it and laugh every year....
